The final prep-work has been done. Had one last pre-game outing on Wednesday evening. Went out with the Good Doctor. He was nymph-fishing, and I was dry-flying. We didn't hook up with any major lunkers, but it was still memorable.
We explored a new stretch of water on an area stream. That, in it of itself, was reason to celebrate. I love exploring new water. There's always a surprise or two awaiting those who take the time to look in Western Wisconsin.
It took a bit to find what the brown's wanted, but soon I pulled a few to the shore to look at. The Good Doctor was working a double-nymph system and pulled several out. He even hit a double! I high-tailed it to his call, and saw both browns on his double-nymphs. As I tried to get my phone out, one slipped off. I snapped the photo just after the second one fell. This picture says it all, but "Scouts Honor," he scored a double!

The second memorable event was the taking of a tiger! Tiger trout are cross-breeds, and this one was a cross between a brown and brook trout. Not a big fella, but a beauty none-the-less!

Like I stated earlier, exploring new water is always an adventure. This pretty little stretch is one that'll be visited again.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I've got my gear ready and stowed. The coffee pot has been cleaned, and set upon the counter. Sandwiches will be made before bed. I'll be up well before dawn and on the road to celebrate the 2016 Wisconsin Fishing Opener.
Best of luck to you all this weekend. Bring a friend, make some memories, and share the story.
Tight Lines!
